This sample marketing plan will show you how to get your new online business off to a great start by preparing for marketing, establishing your website in the marketplace and then to penetrate the market.

Most sample marketing plans I’ve come across so far have everything backwards.

Plans like that do not work because you cannot just set up an expensive website, with an expensive advertising campaign, with the hope that your product will sell. Find out first if there is enough demand to keep you going (even in the leanest times – or have a backup plan) BEFORE you go and blast away all your money on empty promises.

Let’s look at the key components of our sample marketing plan:

1.  Market Research

A) Target Market: “My site will cater for Chefs”

First, focus on finding a niche that will create good demand for different profitable products. Do some internet traffic research using relevant keywords for the niche market that you are interested to sell to. Only once you found a profitable niche market can you research a profitable product for that specific niche.

It is better for a new business to start off using keywords with less competition first, to give you a head-start in your ratings.

This strategy will save you a lot of money and your efforts will have greater impact.

B) They will need, knives, spatulas, pots, pans..

If you are happy that the niche market you want to sell to has enough profit potential, and you have double checked that it receives a lot of visitor attention, you can continue to step 2. If not, find and research a different niche market. It’s no use starting of with a bang if that market is dead and doomed from the beginning.

For example: It’s like still trying to sell one of those old cassette tape decks, but everyone is only interested in mp3 players nowadays.

2. Objective: “The profits will finance a new kitchen”

What is your objective from using this marketing plan? Make enough money to pay for college or replace your salary? Be able to stop the commute to work and rather work from home? Only work on your website as a hobby? Spend 2 hours a week on your site?

Pick a specific objective, and set a S.M.A.R.T target.

(S – Specific, M – Measurable, A – Achievable, R – Realistic, T – Timed)

Don’t be vague like: “I want to make as much money as possible”

It’s easier to achieve specific goals.

3. “$1000 will be used for advertising”

Setting a budget is a very important step. There are a vast amount of ways to drive traffic to your website. Some are free, some affordable and some are expensive.

Calculate and then decide what amount of money you have available and this will help you to determine what tools and strategies you need to use to drive traffic to your website.

4. Tools: “Hand me the eggs and onions, please”

Invest in the necessary tools that you need to promote your website. For example: you must be able to capture leads and follow-up with your prospects. Get a reliable auto responder for this purpose.

You must also be able to research new keywords with ease, monitor your site in different ways and track the source and behavior of visitors.

5. Goals and Strategies: “Queen to H2, Checkmate!”

Decide what your short term and long term goals and strategies are going to be.

The quickest and easiest but expensive way to generate traffic and leads for any business is pay per click (PPC) advertising because it can bring you immediate results.

PPC can also help you drive targeted traffic to your website. The downside of this strategy is that when you have no money to advertise, you also have no traffic.

Pay per click marketing can only be considered as a short-term solution for generating targeted traffic and leads fast, but it is also one of the most expensive ways to advertise your business.

However, if you also use other marketing strategies it will generate traffic to your website in the long term. This can be accomplished with very low or even no cost at all.

It is therefore important to have other affordable, but very effective ways of generating traffic to your website, sending traffic to your site in the long term. Article marketing, blogging and forum participation are some of these less costly ways of generating traffic to your website.

The $8000 solar rebate for solar electricity will soon be reduced when the Federal Government scales back the scheme at the end of June, possibly even sooner. 

“For those who act quickly there is a distinct window of opportunity to take advantage of the solar rebate at it’s highest.” Said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch. 

It’s not all bad news though. The income means test on the solar rebate will be lifted in July so everyone will qualify for the new scheme of around $5000 for a 1kW system and around $7000 for a 1.5kW system. 

SolarSwitch make it easy for homeowners to switch to solar power by offering a free home assessment and the solar rebate as an up front discount. 

“Installing solar electricity not only protects you against skyrocketing energy prices, it adds value to your home and helps the environment.” Said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch. 

A 1kW system can cover between 20 and 40 percent of an energy efficient home’s electricity usage, and saves over a tonne of greenhouse gasses being pumped into the atmosphere annually.

The NSW Government has also announced its intention to introduce an improved solar electricity tariff where homeowners will be credited up to four times the retail rate for excess solar electricity fed into the grid.

If you have a family budget worked out, you know how hard it is to stick to it without having some real concrete plans and strategies to stretch your money as far as it will go. Usually, the first area we can squeeze a few extra dollars out of our wallets is on groceries. I’d like to introduce you to your new partner in your frugal endeavor, the black bean.

If you find yourself wandering aimlessly through the aisles of your grocery store, looking for something to make for dinner that won’t break your budget, take a detour over to the black bean display and check out the price. Considering that black beans are loaded with nutrients like protein, iron, calcium, and potassium, and they are high in fiber, and low in fat and sugar, they really offer a lot of bang for your buck. It’s obvious that black beans should be a staple in every household, frugal or not. So, let’s think up a few simple meals to create with your new best friend… the black bean.

1) Black Bean Cottage Cheese Salad

A simple but delicious use for black beans is turning it into a creamy salad. Put a 1 scoop of cottage cheese in a serving bowl, and sprinkle a little salt and freshly ground black pepper on top. Then top with some drained and rinsed canned black beans, about 1/2 cup. Add a bit of chopped celery to the mix and you have a great, crunchy, creamy lunch, packed with protein, calcium, iron and fiber.

2) Bountiful Bean Salad

You’ll be choosing your favorite canned beans for this salad, keeping in mind color and texture; favorites like black beans, butter beans, navy beans, kidney beans, waxed beans, and whatever else you like. Drain and rinse all the beans and put them in a large serving bowl. To the beans, add some sweet onion, or green onion including the tops, chopped celery, freshly chopped parsley, maybe some fresh rosemary, or whatever herb you like, and top it all with a little shake or two of a very good vinaigrette salad dressing, I use Paul Newman’s Own Balsamic Vinaigrette. You’ve got yourself a kid-friendly and nutritious salad.

3) Use-It-Up Black Bean Burrito

If you have a few staples in your pantry you can whip up this simple burrito. You’ll need a flour or corn tortilla, either heated or not, that’s up to you. Drain and rinse your black beans, then start building your burrito however you want. I add black beans, some diced tomatoes, a little onion, lots of shredded cheddar cheese, a little sour cream, leftover rice, some chopped up pieces of chicken from last night, and whatever else I have to use up. Depending on how I feel that day, I go a little heavier on the black beans and lighter on the other stuff. Get your salsa or taco sauce ready and enjoy.

4) Simple Four Bean Soup

What you’ll need for the beans is 1 can each, black beans, garbanzo beans, butter beans, and navy beans (although you may substitute your favorite beans for any of those). Drain each can and set aside. Into a large pot, pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil or vegetable oil, add 1 cup finely chopped celery and 1 cup of diced onion. Cook on medium low until celery is just tender. Next add 1 clove of garlic, either minced, crushed, or grated, and let cook for just one minute. Then throw all your beans into the pot. Add 1 small can of fire roasted diced tomatoes and 1 small can chicken broth. Simmer nice and slow for approximately 20 to 25 minutes. It’s done!

5) 30 Second Black Beans with Taco Seasoning

Try it and I guarantee you’ll be wondering why you haven’t thought of this before. My daughter was the person who “invented” this recipe in our family, and now we’re all sold on it. Simply drain and rinse a can of black beans. If you have those little packets of taco sauce laying around, leftovers from carry-out, just squeeze a few in your black beans, give it a toss, and you have an incredibly delicious side dish that is sure to please. You’ll have to try this one to believe it. You might want to try some hot salsa instead of the taco sauce, but use only a little, just enough to flavor the beans. (Throw some shredded cheddar on top and you’re set.)

There are countless ways to enjoy our new friend, the black bean. You will easily be able to take the five ideas I’ve listed here and add your own personal flair to create black bean dishes to suit any taste, even your family’s most finicky eater.

Recent trends in educational show that we are gradually moving towards a complete acceptance of the idea of emotional intelligence. This is evident in today’s school curriculum where students are given activities which encourage them to interact with one another on a personal level. The theories of emotional intelligence tell us that when people start interacting with each other comfortably, they are more successful in their endeavors. This shows us that emotion is an important as intellect in the work place and in schools as well.

Schools continue to remain the mentors of personalities in human beings. It is at school that our personalities take their initial shape, right secondary to home. Schools today are working towards involving emotional intelligence into their practices but we are still milestones away from the day that emotional intelligence will be given equal importance to IQ levels at schools, and the mentors of this philosophy wait for that day with patience.

While many educationists still wonder on the good of involving emotive teachings in the school curriculum, there are others who are convinced that dealing with emotions in school on a regular basis will not only help them teach the students better but will also be instrumental in forming better personalities in their students.

The idea of teaching emotional intelligence in schools is a relatively new one, so educationists who do want to involve this in the school curriculum are sometimes at a loss of materials to work with. The internet can help here, as it is an almost infinite source of information. You can find a lot of psychology writing on the internet, which is free for all to download and read at leisure. Still , there are many institutions that are yet to recognize that involving EQ in schools will make better learners out of their students.

A good place to look for information on emotional intelligence is the dissertations on the subject written by psychologists around the globe. You could find many such writings published over the internet. While using the writing to publish your own material is a definite no-no, you could learn a lot about structuring your own EQ courses keeping them in mind. Maybe you could involve the authors and give them due credit where needed.
